SUMMARY
The location where a license is installed by the Foundry Licensing Utility (FLU) or our applications will depend upon the type of license and the operating system of the machine.
NOTE: It can be useful when troubleshooting licensing problems to access the license file directory to temporarily remove the licenses and/or delete the files so they can be reinstalled. However, we do not recommend manually editing license files. Please use the Foundry Licensing Utility to install licenses so they are validated and installed to the correct file and location.
MORE INFORMATION
Node-locked and Server/Floating Licenses
Nodelocked, floating/server licenses and client license files (that point to license servers on your network) are stored in the regular Foundry licensing directory:
- Windows: "C:\ProgramData\The Foundry\RLM\" or "C:\Program Files\The Foundry\RLM\
- MacOS: /Library/Application Support/TheFoundry/RLM/
- Linux: /usr/local/foundry/RLM/
The different license types will be written to different files
- Node-locked licenses - foundry.lic
- Server/floating licenses - foundry_float.lic
- Client license files - foundry_client.lic
NOTE: If you are installing a node-locked license via the FoundryLicensingUtility 8.1.6 and above or pointing to a license server using the FLU, it will install the license to the user location in the path below:
- Windows: C:\Users\<username>\FoundryLicensing\
- MacOS: /Users/<username>/FoundryLicensing/
- Linux: /home/<username>/FoundryLicensing/
Login-based Licenses
The local license token created when you activate a login-based licensing entitlement on your machine is stored in a different location so that it can be automatically created and deleted without affecting non login-based license files on your machine.
From Modo 15, Mari 7.0 Nuke 13.2 and above the licensing application will generate an authentication token onto the activated machine. The login-based license token can be found in the following locations:
Windows: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Foundry\Tokens
OSX: /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/ApplicationSupport/Foundry/Tokens
Linux: $HOME/.local/share/Foundry/Tokens
(Where <USERNAME> is your login name)
Before Modo 15, Mari 7 and Nuke 13.2 the local license was stored in the FoundryLicensing directory in the home area on your machine.
- Windows: C:\Users\<username>\FoundryLicensing\
- MacOS: /Users/<username>/FoundryLicensing/
- Linux: /home/<username>/FoundryLicensing/
The file was in a subdirectory with the SystemID of the machine and stored in a file with a filename taken from the SessionID from the login-based licensing system, for example c9c91af5-2d0a-49b2-9d43-ad0281cd3f33.lic.
