Q100616: How to resolve the "LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10825" error message

Follow

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to open the application you receive a LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10825 error message like so:

CAUSE

This is caused by Nuke or Modo being incompatible with the version of macOS that you’re currently using.

For example, if you launch standard Nuke instead of getting this LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10825 error message, you will receive a more detailed error explaining that the product is incompatible with the operating system.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this you would be required to update macOS to a version that is currently supported by Nuke or Modo. For more information on what operating systems are currently supported please check the respective release notes:

Nuke Release Notes
Modo Release Notes

If you’re unable to update to a supported version of macOS, you could download a previous version of Nuke or Modo that is supported on your current operating system.
