Q100549: How to create a custom popover window in Modo, for quick access to tools

Follow

SUMMARY

This article is a guide on how to create custom popover windows within Modo.

MORE INFORMATION

In Modo, users are able to create custom popover windows for quick access to tools or commands to save time if these are required frequently. The following steps will demonstrate how these windows can be created:

1) Decide and perform a command that you wish to be present on the popover menu, for example, the polygon component mode command. Select the Polygons button found above the 3D viewport.

2) Expand the Command line, this can be done by pulling the line above the Command box found at the bottom right of the screen.

3) Select System > Form Editor and scroll down to the Popovers group, right-click (new form) and select Add Form... then name this form Custom_Popover.

In the newly created Custom_Popover form, right-click (new control) and select Add Command, then type the polygon component mode command into this box.

4) Right-click the Custom Popover label and select Assign to Key... Press the Ctrl key (or any key of your choice) and select OK. Now if you press the Ctrl key within the 3D viewport this custom popover will appear.

Now, whenever you press the Ctrl key you can access this newly created popover window. That will allow you to use the chosen command without having to navigate through the menus.
