Q100537: Adding the Items mode button back to the UI in Modo 12 and onwards

Follow

SUMMARY

This article is a guide on how to add the Items mode button back into Modo’s UI.

MORE INFORMATION

Prior to the release of Modo 12, users could enable the Items selection tool by selecting the Items button in Modo’s UI.

The Items button was removed to clarify the difference between Component and Items selection modes. When Component selection is disabled, Items selection is re-enabled.

If you would like to re-add the Items selection button to the UI, please follow the steps below:

  1. Select System > Form Editor and then enable the Find Form button, with this enabled select the Polygons button above the 3D viewport.

  2. This will then take you to its location within the Form Editor, scroll down, and within the Modes Toolbar group select (new control) > Add Command…

  3. After doing this an Add Command to a Form window will appear, within this window type the following command:  select.typeFrom "item;center;edge;polygon;vertex;ptag" [1]

    Then select
    OK.

An Item label will then be created within the Form Editor, drag this, and place it below the Polygons label. After doing this an 'Item' button will appear within the UI just above the 3D viewport.
