SYMPTOMS
When installing newer versions of Modo some users are encountering the following warning message:The selected denoiser, NVIDIA OptiX, is not available on this machine.
If you encounter this message it means that the NVIDIA OptiX denoiser is not being used in renders, even if it’s enabled.
CAUSE
This problem can potentially be caused by out of date NVIDIA GPU drivers. With each release, Modo may update the used NVIDIA OptiX libraries, which could require you to update to the most recent NVIDIA driver versions for Modo to work as expected.
You can find the minimum driver version recommended for each version of Modo on the Modo Release Notes.
RESOLUTION
If you encounter this warning message, please visit NVIDIA’s website to download and install the latest driver version for your system. This may then allow you to use the NVIDIA OptiX denoiser.
