Q100366: Foundry License Utility (FLU) 7.3v1 crashed on Windows 10 when saving diagnostics file - fixed in FLU 7.3v2

SYMPTOMS

Version 7.3v1 of the Foundry License Utility (FLU) crashes on Windows 10 when saving a diagnostic file or the diagnostic file will be empty.  It does not crash when saving a diagnostic file on Windows 7 or other platforms.

The bug is fixed in FLU 7.3v2 

This issue is fixed in the latest release of the Foundry License Utility, 7.3v2 which is available to download from https://www.foundry.com/licensing

WORKAROUNDS

If you're unable to download FLU 7.3v2 then there are a couple of workarounds to this problem.
 
Run the FLU from in a command prompt

You can generate and save a diagnostic file by running the Foundry License Utility in a command prompt with the -d argument.  Open a Command Prompt, navigate to where you have saved the FLU and run the following commands:

FLU_7.3v1_win-x86-release-64.exe -d

When prompted to save the license diagnostic file please enter "Y" to save to the default filename.
 
Alternatively, you can make the FLU write out the diagnostic to a given filename by adding -f and a given filename

FLU_7.3v1_win-x86-release-64.exe -d  -f diagnosticFile.log


Manually copy and paste the diagnostic info
 
Generate the diagnostic information as normal:
  1. Right click on the FLU and select "Run As Administrator"
  2. Go to the Diagnostic tab and click on "Run Diagnostics"
Instead of clicking on Save, click in the diagnostics window and hit Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C to copy the information.  Please then save this as a plain text file and send it as an attachment when creating a Support Ticket.
