Q100712: Resolving missing Power Translators in Modo for Windows 11

After two decades of 3D workflow innovation, in November 2024, we made the difficult decision to discontinue Modo. Unfortunately, since Modo has been discontinued, we are unable to provide any further product releases, licenses or support. We therefore recommend that users transition to alternative 3D workflows. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and support over the years. The original announcement can be found here

SYMPTOMS

If you have Power Translators installed and licensed for Modo but are unable to use the plug-in, you may be missing a key redistributable package that allows Power Translators to work. This article explains the cause of this issue and how to resolve the problem.

In Modo you may experience the following symptoms when trying to access Power Translators:

Power Translators is not visible as an Import option

With the plug-in installed and enabled in the Kit Enable menu (Help > Kit version):

If you have a valid Power Translator license available as a login-based license or RLM license installed on your machine:

The Power Translator license will not be displayed as an active license in the License Status page of the Modo licensing UI:

It will also not be possible to activate or install the Power Translator license via the licensing window:

CAUSE

The Power Translators plug-in depends on MSVCR100.dll, which is a MSVC 2010 redistributable to run in Modo. By default, the MSVC 2010 Redistributable may not be included on Windows 11 machines. If the redistributable is not installed on your machine, Power Translators will not function.

RESOLUTION

The required redistributable package for Power Translators can be downloaded and installed from the following provided link:

Once the redistributable is installed, the Power Translators plug-in should be visible in Modo and work as expected.
