MORE INFORMATION
If Modo 10 or earlier finds an expired Luxology style license it will warn the user that their license has now expired and should rename the old license file with ".expired" to the end of the filename to prevent the license file being used again. You should then be able to proceed with installing a new license.
However, if the old license isn't automatically renamed then MODO will always warn the user that their license is expired and not let them install a new one or go on to look for a valid RLM license. This can lead to an expired license preventing you from using a valid paid for license.
You can fix this problem by manually removing the old expired license. To do this, go to the Luxology license directory
and remove the existing MODO license file. The filename is different for each version of MODO.
- Windows: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Luxology\
- OSX: /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Luxology/
- Linux: $HOME/.luxology/
- Modo 11 series: modo138707.lic
- Modo 10 series: modo109580.lic
- Modo 901/902: modo85499.lic
- Modo 801: modo70287.lic
NOTE: On OSX the Library folder in your home area may be hidden in Finder by default. To access the directory in Finder, navigate to your home area then click on View > "Show View Options" from the menu bar and then turn on the option for "Show Library Folder" in the options window.

SUMMARY
In old builds of Modo that used Luxology licensing, expired licenses could prevent the application from using a valid license. This meant you needed to remove any expired licenses before installing a new one. You may need to do this if you are trying to reinstall an old license for an old version of Modo (10 or earlier).
