Q100057: Re-initializing your floating license server

Follow

SYMPTOMS

RLM floating license server runs but has incorrect license pool.

CAUSE

An incorrect license file, or multiple different license files.

RESOLUTION

Note, to perform this, you will need a copy of your complete, current license file, as received from The Foundry, ready to install.  This may have been delivered to you over time, as different license keys.  If you are uncertain as to whether you have a copy of your complete, current license file, simply contact sales@thefoundry.co.uk and they will provide one to you.  (If a reseller is involved, keys may be routed to you through the reseller.)

Remove all .lic files from the license file directories:
on Mac:
/Library/Application Support/TheFoundry/RLM/
/Library/Application Support/TheFoundry/FLEXlm/

on Linux:
/usr/local/foundry/RLM/
/usr/local/foundry/FLEXlm/

on Windows:
C:\Program Files\The Foundry\RLM\
C:\ProgramData\The Foundry\RLM\
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Foundry\RLM\
C:\Program Files\The Foundry\FLEXlm\
C:\ProgramData\The Foundry\FLEXlm\
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Foundry\FLEXlm\

Launch the Foundry License Utility (FLU), which is here:
on Mac:
/Applications/TheFoundry/LicensingTools7.x/

on Linux:
/usr/local/foundry/LicensingTools7.x/

on Windows:
(on Windows, launch the FLU by right-clicking on it and selecting "run as administrator".)
C:\Program Files\The Foundry\LicensingTools7.x\
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Foundry\LicensingTools7.x\

Stop the Server
click on 'RLM Server' and if 'Stop Server' is enabled, click it and wait for confirmation,

click on 'FLEXlm Server' and if 'Stop Server' is enabled, click it and wait for confirmation,

NOTE
COMMAND LINE ALTERNATIVE, ON A LINUX MACHINE:
Navigate to here in a terminal:

/usr/local/foundry/LicensingTools7.x/

and run these commands:

sudo ./FoundryLicenseUtility -s stop -t FLEXlm
sudo ./FoundryLicenseUtility -s stop -t RLM

License install
click on 'License Install' and drag the .lic file or paste the keys into the FLU's
'License Install' window.

You should get a successful license install indication, and a server started indication.

COMMAND LINE ALTERNATIVE, ON A LINUX MACHINE:
sudo ./FoundryLicenseUtility -l [path]/[license_file].lic

Start the server
click on 'RLM Server' and if 'Stop Server' is enabled, click it and wait for confirmation, then, in any case, click 'Start Server'
