SUMMARY

This article explains about current Camera Tracker support for After Effects CC 2017, and the future of Camera Tracker for After effects.

MORE INFORMATION

In September 2016 we released Camera Tracker 1.0v10 for After Effects CC (2015 and 2015.3).  In November 2016 Adobe released After Effects CC 2017.  Camera Tracker 1.0v10 has not been fully tested with After Effects CC 2017 so we cannot guarantee how well it will work.  However, brief tests have shown that the plug-in will load and work if it is installed to the After Effects CC 2017 plug-in directory (see below).

In February 2017 we announced that, as of 31st March 2017, we will be discontinuing Camera Tracker for After Effects.  After this date, sales, development and support will end.  For those who have recently purchased Camera Tracker for After Effects, we will provide best-effort support for one year from the date of your purchase. There will be no further updates for either bug fixes, or for compatibility with Adobe CC.

This also means that there will not be an officially supported release of Camera Tracker for AE CC 2017.  It is possible to use Camera Tracker 1.0v10 with AE CC 2017 using the steps below but we recommend that Camera Tracker customers keep After Effects CC 2015/2015.3 installed to have a fully supported version of the host program available.

How to use Camera Tracker 1.0v10 with After Effects CC 2017

Download Camera Tracker 1.0v10 for After Effects CC 2015.3 from this page and install it on your machine.

Then copy the "CameraTracker_1.0_CC2015.3" directory from the After Effects CC 2015.3 plug-in directory:
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2015.3\Support Files\Plug-ins\
  • OSX: /Applications/Adobe After Effects CC 2015.3/Plug-ins/

to the After Effects CC 2017 plug-in directory
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2017\Support Files\Plug-ins\
  • OSX: /Applications/Adobe After Effects CC 2017/Plug-ins/

CAMERA TRACKER should then be available from the Effects > The Foundry menu in After Effects CC 2017.

How to keep After Effects CC 2015 or 2015.3 installed
The Adobe website has advice on how to keep the old version when updating here:

and instructions on how to reinstall older versions here (scroll down to the 'Install previous versions of apps' heading):
