Q100316: Understanding the ' cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory' error message on Linux


This article explains why Linux users may see the following error message in the terminal when launching Nuke: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory



The above error will appear when you launch Nuke on Linux, unless you have DeckLink monitor out drivers setup on your system. This message should only affect your system if you are using DeckLink monitor out hardware, as it indicates that your drivers are not correctly setup.

When using the DeckLink monitor out hardware, always make sure you install the correct drivers for the hardware you have. These drivers should be available on the hardware manufacturer website. 

If you have the appropriate drivers installed then the error message should no longer appear and you should be able to use the hardware with Nuke as expected.
