Q100295: Enabling the Frame Server status bar in Nuke Studio and Hiero

Follow

SUMMARY

This article explains how to include a Frame Server status bar in Nuke Studio and Hiero, to help see if the Frame Server is working as expected on export.

MORE INFORMATION

If a user is having issues with exports, then this can sometimes be due to the Frame Server not being connected and running as expected.

In Nuke Studio and Hiero you can add some Python to enable a status bar that will indicate in the bottom right corner of the application, if the FrameServer is working correctly and will provide a stat output and status icon.

In order to add this functionality, please do the following:

1. Navigate to the following directory (you may need to create these directories if they do not already exist): ./nuke/python/Startup/

NOTE: If you are unsure where the .nuke directory exists please reference the following article: Q100048: Nuke Directory Locations

2. Create a text document and paste the following:
import hiero.ui.FnStatusBar
3. Save the text document as FnStatusBar.py in the 'Startup' directory
4. Modify your init.py file in your '.nuke' folder to contain the following:
nuke.pluginAddPath('./python')
NOTE: You may need to create init.py if it doesn't already exist by saving a text document as init.py in your .nuke folder.

5. Launch NukeStudio
6. Attempt render

Result: Notice that in the bottom right of your NukeStudio application there will be some stat output and a status icon, like:
