Q100265: Licensing Help Overview

The Licensing area on our Support Portal aims to provide you with all the information you need to understand how your license works, useful information on advanced licensing and what to do if you encounter any problems.

If you can't find the information you're looking for, please contact our Support team by creating a ticket through the Support Portal, and we will be happy to help.

We have detailed guides to get you up and running in the following articles:

Q100026: How to install a node-locked license

Q100027: How to install a floating license

Q100283: How to Activate a Login based or Subscription License

Q100139: How to Install a Legacy MODO License

You can also find detailed instructions on installing and using node-locked and floating licenses in the Foundry Licensing Tools User Guide, which is available here.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend using a mobile server, like a laptop, that doesn't meet the following criteria :
  1. Static IP
  2. Static Hostname
  3. 'Always on' status so clients can connect to the server over a LAN
  4. DNS enabled
Problems will occur if you choose to use a MacBook Pro as a server, as it will not meet criteria point 2 above, and it will change hostname constantly when plugged into different networks.  You may need to discuss this with your Network or Systems teams if you encounter hostname resolution issues.

If you encounter problems with your licensing, and you can't find the solution in either the Known IssuesLicensing Knowledge Base or Subscription and Login based Licensing sections of the Licensing area on our Support Portal then please follow the instructions in the article below to create a license diagnostic file and contact the Support team.
