Q100258: Rigging Master Course video playback problems

Follow

SYMPTOMS

The Rigging Master Course comes with a series of QuickTime videos that are no longer supported for playback in most browsers. This article explains the cause and how to continue viewing them on your machine.

CAUSE

The Rigging Master Course videos use the QuickTime plug-in to add video playback support to its HTML interface. The QuickTime plug-in is no longer supported by Apple and has been slowly phased out by several browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.

This means that unfortunately most browsers will no longer allow the playback of the Rigging Master Course videos.

RESOLUTION

You can still access and playback the Rigging Master Course videos by browsing to the installation location from your User home folder, under:

Windows:

C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\Luxology\Content\Kits\RiggingMasterCourse\videos

Mac OS X:

/Library/Application Support/Luxology/Content/Kits/RiggingMasterCourse/videos

Linux:

/usr/share/Luxology/Content/Kits/RiggingMastterCourse/videos

There you can access the .mov files directly and play them on your machine using your preferred video player.

NOTE: Unfortunately it is not possible any more to play them within the browser or as open via Modo.
