SUMMARY
This article explains where to find information about downloading and installing the 3Delight renderer and plug-in for Katana.
MORE INFORMATION
The 3Delight renderer and the 3Delight for Katana (3DFK) renderer plug-in are provided by the 3Delight team. 3Delight ships bundled with Katana and can be installed as part of the Katana installation process.
When launching Katana in UI mode, 3Delight is able to acquire a valid license from the existing katana_i license. This means that 3Delight can be used in Preview and Live Renders without requiring an additional license. If you wish to render files to disk, a 3Delight render license, 3delight_r, is required. If no such license is found, the rendered images will be watermarked and the render will be slower than normal.
Customers requiring a 3delight_r license can purchase one from the 3Delight website.
INSTALLATION AND SETUP
If 3Delight is installed as part of the Katana installation and the setup steps are performed with the default options selected, it will be automatically set up so it is ready to use with Katana.
If 3Delight is installed, but the setup options to set environment variables are not selected, the necessary variables can be set in a startup script to load the 3Delight plugin when Katana starts up. Please see the following articles for more information on how to set up a startup script:

All supported Katana versions ship with a sanctioned and tested version of 3Delight. Other versions of the renderer plug-in can be downloaded from the 3Delight website at https://www.3delight.com/download.
Note: The Free 3Delight NSI package does NOT include the 3Delight plugin for Katana. The unrestricted 3Delight package, which is available for subscription or purchase, does include 3Delight for Katana. Please see the 3Delight website for more information.
